Brendan Graham and Rolf Løvland wrote ‘You Raise Me Up’ in 2001. The song became popular after Josh Groban recorded it in 2003.

The tune of the song was drawn from the Irish melody ‘Danny Boy’ and its message was inspired by Psalm 139. This psalm tells us that God is always with us and supports us through hard times.

The words remind us that Christ gives us strength to face anything that comes our way.

Celtic Woman was formed in 2004. Since then the Irish group has been bringing joy to millions of people through their faith-filled music.

In this performance they revived the song with their beautiful vocals. The violin music and the backup singers all helped make the song more touching.

You could feel the power of the message in every word they sang.

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
