Conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was fatally shot Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University. He leaves behind a powerful testimony of Christian faith that inspired countless young people across America.
Many people in politics and mainstream media use their platforms for their own glory. But Charlie Kirk was different. He often used his platform to talk about Jesus and guide others to Him.
Kirk lived just 30 years, but the impact he made especially in young people was tremendous. Even now his voice of faith continues to speak to many hearts across the nation.
A Man of Faith
Kirk never tried to hide his faith or water it down for anyone. “I mean, I’m nothing without Jesus,” he told Russell Brand last year. “I’m a sinner. I fall incredibly short of the glory of God. We all do. I gave my life to the Lord in fifth grade, and it’s the most important decision I’ve ever made and everything I do incorporates Jesus Christ.”
He created Turning Point USA Faith, an organization dedicated to “empowering Christians to put their faith into action.” Kirk wanted to help believers defend their God-given rights.
Kirk loved debating skeptics on college campuses. He saw these conversations as chances to share truth.
Charlie Kirk Family
Kirk married former Miss Arizona USA Erika Frantzve in May 2021. They had two young children together, a 3-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son. His family meant everything to him.
Pastor Rob McCoy knew Kirk personally and called him both a spiritual son and friend.
After the shooting, McCoy said something beautiful: “Charlie did not die. Instead, he has begun to truly live. His life was secured eternally by His Savior, Jesus Christ. This truth allowed Charlie to face every threat with courage because he didn’t fear death.”
Hope in Dark Times
Kirk’s last social media post from Saturday said, “Jesus defeated death so you can live.” Those words feel even more powerful now.
Earlier this year, Kirk debated an atheist about faith and hope. He said, “We as Christians have hope that we are going to see our loved ones again and that we will be in heaven and that we will be in perfect peace and that this is not it. In fact, there’s something even better awaiting us.”
Kirk believed something amazing was happening with young people and faith. He told Fox News last month, “We are seeing Gen Z go back to church in record numbers. We are seeing a Christian revival that should give everyone in this audience hope.”
President Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on Truth Social Wednesday afternoon, writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”
Charlie Kirk’s voice may be silenced, but his message lives on in every young person he inspired to follow Christ.
Evil tried to win, but it never does when someone lives their life pointing others to Jesus.
Please pray for his wife Erika and their two precious children as they walk through this heartbreaking loss.
