A 12-year-old girl who was critically injured when a tree limb fell on her is now home after a remarkable recovery that her family calls a miracle.
There are moments in life when we feel completely helpless. We watch someone we love suffer, and even the doctors shake their heads not knowing what else to do.
That’s when we fall to our knees and pray, because we know only God can step in. Prayer is powerful. It reaches where medicine cannot and brings peace when fear takes over.

Tree Limb Falls on 12-Year-Old Girl
Claudia Bacon was at the Paulding Meadows Arts and Crafts Festival in Georgia on September 6 when heavy rain and wind caused part of a tree to fall on her.
The impact left her with a fractured skull, broken rib, and a bruised lung. Her head was split open from the back to the front.
Her mother, Charlena, will never forget what she saw that day. “That’s just the scariest thing that’s ever happened. She was on a ventilator. She wasn’t reacting to anything, and her hair was just full of blood. They couldn’t stop the bleeding,” she said.
Family Prays for a Miracle
Doctors were not sure she would wake up. But Claudia’s family put their trust in God. Their community and loved ones prayed and stood by their side during that critical time.
Within days, Claudia showed signs of healing. Her breathing tube was removed, and she started recognizing familiar faces. “Everybody has said it’s a miracle. Like it had to be God. There’s no other explanation for it,” Charlena said.
Miraculous Recovery
Doctors thought she would need three months in the hospital, but she came home after just three weeks. She regained strength on the left side of her body and could even play basketball and her oboe again despite her injuries.
Claudia still wears a neck brace and has some vision problems, but her recovery continues through therapy. “Without our community, loved ones, and our faith and trust in God, this could have turned out very different,” said her mom.
Power of Prayer
Claudia’s story reminds us to never stop praying. God sees our broken hearts and every tear we shed. Doctors may say there is no hope, but our hope is in the Lord who created the heavens and the earth. He has authority over every sickness and death, and in His name we are healed.
