Homeless Single Mother Wins Golden Buzzer On America’s Got Talent

America’s Got Talent 2020 saw one of it’s best performances yet when homeless and single mother Cristina Rae blew the judges and audiences away with a mind-blowing performance.

Rae, said she came to “AGT” to change her life after battling homelessness and living in a car while pregnant with her son Jeremiah.

“I need this to change my life. As you can see, I’m a single mom and I was living in my vehicle while pregnant,” Rae said onstage while holding her little toddler in one hand and a microphone in the other.

“This will change my life by putting us in a home. My own home… I want him to have his own room.”

So, when judge Howie Mandel told Rae to sing as if the AGT studios were her house, Rae belted out a power packed performance to the song’s moving lyrics (“If I don’t get some shelter / Oh yeah, I’m gonna fade away”) which brought the judges to their feet for a standing ovation.

Judge Mandel later told her that she “blew the roof off” the building during the third night of auditions Tuesday when she performed an emotional performance of The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter.”

“There’s only one way to describe your voice – It’s insanely good,” Cowell said after flashing his signature thumbs up. “There is absolutely no point in making shows like this unless we find people like you. I adore you.”

Sofía Vergara and Heidi Klum said they got goosebumps all over with her performance. “I think you are absolutely out of this world. My heart is racing for you. Are you ready for this right now?” Klum said before pointing at the coveted Golden Buzzer. “I am going to push the button for you.”

Heidi Klum then did just that, she slammed the buzzer, sending golden confetti all over the stage and Rae to her knees in tears, the buzzer sent Rae straight to the live final shows.

Klum then walked up on to the stage and helped up the Tennessee native and embraced her. “You are amazing and I want you to have that house,” Klum said. “And you are on your way to getting it right now.”

Rae originally sang Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” before Cowell requested that Rae sing another song.

“Can I hear your second song as well,” Cowell said. “Do you want some water before you start?”

Rae did not get nervous by Simon Cowell’s request but said, “I’m going to let this adrenaline take me,” she responded.

Cowell quipped, “Good answer.”

We can’t wait to see the next performance of Rae in the competition and we hope that she goes all the way in the competition and wins it, so that her dreams of owning her own house become a reality.
