The dog named Serenity by shelter workers, was seen guarding all five baby kittens near the road in Ontario, Canada.

Pet and Wildlife Rescue wrote on Facebook: ‘I have been getting A LOT of attention on social media, but let me fill you in just in case you don’t know my name and my story! ‘My name is Serenity and I was found last week on the side of the road keeping 5 kittens warm. ‘A good citizen called the shelter, a kind Animal Control Officer picked the 6 of us up and we’ve been living our best lives ever since!’

It is still not clear whether the mother of the kittens abandoned them or they got seperated somehow but Serenity has given them all her love.

Serenity is now looking for a new home and the kittens are being cared for by a foster home till they are big enough to be adopted.

Serenity is good with the small kittens, but is boisterous with young children or other dominant dogs. The shelter said that they would like to offer the dog and kittens together, but it would mean that Serenity would have to wait many months to find her forever home.

The shelter has been flooded with offers from prospective new owners after the clip of Serenity and the kittens went viral. The shelter said she is ‘obviously great with cats’ and would happily live in a home with kitties.

Serenity who is around two years old, also loves the outside , but is too boisterous to live with children, or other dogs.

Verse of the Day

But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” — Luke 1:30-33 (NIV)
