A neighborhood dog in Louisville, Kentucky, became an unlikely hero after leading police officers directly to a missing 3-year-old boy during a frantic search in freezing temperatures.

I’ve heard many people say they do not know how to pray. But does it matter to God? Even if you don’t know how to pray God hears the cries of your heart. He knows what you are going through. He can use anyone even an animal to make a difference in your situation. That’s exactly what happened when He placed a dog to guide those officers straight to that little boy shivering in the dark.
On January 7, the Louisville Metro Police Department launched a massive search including drones and a helicopter to find a missing toddler on a bitterly cold day.
Officer Josh Thompson was checking a neighboring property when a dog started barking at him.
He admitted, “I’m kind of being a little leery of the dog. He’s barking, chirping at me a little bit, and then continues to follow me back to the front porch again to knock on the house again.”
Thompson decided to follow the animal. “Hey, let’s go find this kid,” he told the dog. It led him past an open door and straight to a vehicle in the garage.
Inside that car, the officers found the boy scared but unharmed.
One officer celebrated by saying, “Lassie found him!”
The department later shared that this was “outstanding work by our officers, and a four‑legged friend who reminded us that heroes come in all forms.”
The rescue felt like a miracle. “I don’t know where the dog came from. But it was a blessing from God,” Thompson said.
We can take comfort knowing the Lord watches over the most vulnerable among us. This story reminds us to trust He provides a way out of the cold and dark even when we feel most lost.
