A loyal dog became a hero when he guided a sheriff’s deputy to his injured grandmother who had fallen during their evening walk in Florida.
There is something very special about the way dogs love us. They do not just wag their tails for snacks, but they truly step in for us when we need help. Their loyalty and kindness often remind us how uniquely God created them to love and care for us.
Eeyore, a big gentle dog, showed this selfless love when his grandmother got injured and needed help.
86-year-old Woman Goes Missing
On September 25, an 86-year-old woman went missing in Destin, Florida. She had gone out to walk her son’s dog, Eeyore, but didn’t come home.
Her husband grew worried as the minutes turned into an hour. “She never takes more than 10 or 15 minutes, and it’s almost an hour now,” he told Deputy Devon Miller from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Loyal Dog Leads Deputy
Deputy Miller started searching the neighborhood that night. Then she spotted Eeyore standing in the street.
The 100-pound dog walked right up to her patrol car. “Where’s your mama? Show me where your mama is,” Miller asked him.
Eeyore turned and led the deputy through a yard straight to the sidewalk where the woman lay injured.
The grandmother had fallen and hurt her leg. She couldn’t get up. But Eeyore had stayed right by her side.
Grandmother Discovers Her Unlikely Rescuer
When Deputy Miller reached her, the woman could hardly believe what happened. “The dog brought you?” she asked. “He wouldn’t leave. He kept coming back to me.”
Then she said something that made the moment even more touching: “I’m not even his owner. I’m his grandmother!”
Paramedics took the woman to the hospital. Her injury was not life threatening.
The sheriff’s office posted the bodycam video on Facebook. It showed exactly how Eeyore led Deputy Miller to his grandmother. “Sometimes heroes come with four legs and a wagging tail!” they wrote.
This story warms our hearts. Eeyore didn’t give up on his grandmother. He stayed with her in the dark and then brought help when it arrived.
We can see God’s hand in this rescue. He used a faithful dog to save a woman who needed help.
