The song ‘Firm Foundation (He Won’t)’ was written by Cody Carnes, Chandler Moore, and Austin Davis. Elevation Worship released it in 2021.

The song’s message comes straight from the Bible. In Matthew 7:24-25, Jesus tells us about a wise man who built his house on solid rock.

When storms came, his house stood strong. That’s what happens when we build our lives on Jesus. No matter what tries to shake us, we stand firm because He is our foundation.

Genavieve brings something special to this song. The 26-year-old grew up in a small Michigan town as the oldest of 11 children.

She appeared on American Idol twice, in 2018 and 2020. Viewers and judges loved her honest heart and amazing talent.

But Genavieve’s story took a heartbreaking turn in 2019. Her younger sister Corinn died in a terrible car accident. The grief was crushing.

Most people would struggle to keep their faith after such a heartbreaking loss. But Genavieve held on to God even tighter.

“From that moment on, God began a journey to teach me lessons that only suffering can teach in a way that I would never ever in my life ask to be done,” she says on her website.

“God has used this tragedy to do what He has given me the desire to do with all of my life – to give Him glory!”

Her version of ‘Firm Foundation’ reminds us that Jesus truly won’t fail us. Not yesterday, not now, not ever.

Through her loss and continued faith, Genavieve shows us what it looks like to stand on the rock of Christ’s love.
