A Houston waste management driver saved a tiny abandoned dog from a trash hopper and brought him straight home.
A driver named Gabriel Wylie was out on his regular trash route down in Houston like he has done for seven years. He dumped a giant eight foot container into his truck and checked the safety camera. Low and behold, something was moving around inside the pile of garbage.
It was a tiny little dog surrounded by rubbish! That dumpster was far too tall for a small pup to jump into, so somebody must have thrown him away. It makes me sick to my stomach thinking how anyone could be so heartless to an innocent creature.
Thank God Gabriel was paying close attention to that screen. If he had turned on the heavy compactor, that poor pup would have been crushed to pieces.
Gabriel stopped his truck right then and there and called the Houston SPCA. The rescuers came out fast, climbed inside the hopper, and got the little guy out safe. His white fur was terribly dirty and matted all over.
Once they had him on solid ground Gabriel spoke right up and said he wanted to adopt him. He phoned his wife Zanetta and before he could even finish explaining what happened she told him to bring that baby straight home.
The shelter staff shaved off all his ruined fur, gave him his vaccinations, neutered him, and put in a microchip. A few weeks later Gabriel picked him up and named him Hopper after the truck part where he was found.
Hopper is so small he stands right in the palm of Gabriel’s hand like it is nothing.
We were all in some kind of trash once, weren’t we? But our merciful God stepped right into that dirt and saved us with His blood. There are still millions of people in this world who live in the dark of the pit and have no hope.
Let us pray that the grace of God reaches them and leads them to the salvation of Jesus Christ. Let us also pray to become more loving and more kind to the people and animals around us.
