The Garms Family touched hearts with their beautiful a cappella version of ‘Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.’
Helen Howarth Lemmel wrote ‘Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus’ in 1918. She was inspired to write the hymn after a missionary encouraged her to focus completely on Christ instead of her problems
The song reminds us to look at Jesus when troubles come our way. When we keep our eyes on Him, our worries become smaller.
His glory and grace shine brighter than any problem we face. This truth helps us stay strong when life gets tough.
In this video, each of the eight Garms family members sings their parts in the backdrop of colorful wildflowers. Their voices blend together beautifully and their harmonies give us chills.
Their performance and the natural setting draw us to the powerful message of the song.
This family’s performance hits close to home for many of us. We have faith and believe in Jesus Christ. But many times our thoughts take control of our spiritual life.
We worry about bills, health problems, job stress, and family issues. All these things shift our focus onto these worldly concerns.
But this old hymn reminds us of something important. Instead of staring at all our problems, we need to look at Jesus.
Jesus is what we truly need in our lives. He has overcome the world by defeating sin, death, and every power of darkness through His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection. He gives us everlasting peace.
