Inmate Starts Singing ‘I Trust in God’ and the Entire Room Erupts in Worship

An inmate at a maximum-security women’s correctional facility in Nevada stepped forward during a God Behind Bars worship service and led the entire room to worship with ‘I Trust in God.’

Many people today feel they are too far behind to receive God’s grace. The sins they have done in the past pull them back from redemption and stop them from experiencing the freedom Christ offers. That is actually a trick from Satan to make us stray from the goodness of God.

None of us are perfect enough to stand before Him on our own merit. But God in His mercy sent His Son to die for our sins and opened the way, not for a selected few, but for everyone who believes in Him.

This powerful video is proof that God’s grace can reach even the darkest places on earth and transform lives.

God Behind Bars is a ministry that goes into prisons and brings worship, community and real hope to incarcerated people. They run high-energy worship services and offer reentry programs covering housing, jobs and community support after release.

The video opens with the God Behind Bars music team leading the women in worship. Just watching these women sing through some of the hardest seasons of their lives is already a lot to take in.

Then the worship team invites an inmate named Latoya to come forward and take the lead on ‘I Trust in God.’ She steps up and honestly, everything changes right there.

She doesn’t perform it. She lives it. Every word she sings carries this weight that you can only carry when you’ve actually been through something. The whole room responds. You can feel something shifting in there and it reaches right through the screen.

A lot of people quietly believe they’ve gone too far. That the things they’ve done have somehow put them outside the reach of God’s grace. That’s not faith talking. That’s fear.

The truth is God never made His grace available to the deserving few. He made it available to everyone who believes, and this video shows He will go all the way into the darkest corners of this earth to prove it.

Latoya’s voice in that prison room is proof enough. If His presence can fill a place like that, there is nowhere He cannot reach you.

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).” — Ephesians 2:4-5
