A man suffered a severe heart attack during Drew Lynch’s comedy show, but God had already placed the right people in that room to save his life.
We go about our daily lives thinking we control our schedules. We pick where to go and when to be there. But God sees the bigger picture we can’t see. He knows exactly who needs to be where and when.
That night, a group of nurses thought they were just going out for laughs, but God had placed them there for something much more important.
A Comedy Show Takes a Shocking Turn
Drew Lynch was doing his comedy routine at the Spokane Comedy Club in September. The former “America’s Got Talent” contestant had the crowd laughing when suddenly everything changed.
Richard Wende, 83 years old, collapsed in his seat from a massive heart attack.
Lynch paused his routine and asked if everything was okay. “No,” someone replied from the crowd.
Within seconds, the comedy club became a place where strangers fought to save a life.
God’s Hand at Work
Here’s where God’s hand becomes clear. A group of nurses had decided to enjoy a night out together at this exact show. They weren’t planning to use their medical training that evening, but God had positioned them perfectly.
“I’m calling 911 right now,” someone shouted. The nurses immediately began CPR while other audience members cleared chairs and tables.
Strangers Unite to Save His Life
People took turns doing chest compressions on Wende’s chest. Some monitored his pulse while others guided paramedics when they arrived.
“CPR started,” one person called out. Another voice responded, “I can be your second.” Everyone worked together like they had practiced this moment, though they were complete strangers.
Lynch helped coordinate from the stage. He moved furniture and made sure paramedics had a clear path to reach Wende. The comedian watched as his audience became a medical team.
A Miracle Unfolds
For more than five minutes, Wende had no pulse. His life hung in the balance while strangers refused to give up on him. Then someone said the words everyone was praying for: “He’s waking up.”
The entire room burst into applause as paramedics loaded Wende onto a stretcher. People wiped away tears as they watched him leave the building alive.
A shaken Lynch addressed his audience: “You guys all really just came together in a really cool way. You saved that guy’s life.”
Drew Lynch Visits Wende at Hospital
The story didn’t end there. Lynch and his fellow comedians visited Wende in the hospital. They performed the rest of the show he had missed, bringing laughter to his recovery room.
Wende’s son Nathan later wrote about that night: “In a world where we are so divided at times, these strangers came together to give us the gift of more time with our dad.”
Not Luck, Not Coincidence – It Was God
This wasn’t luck or coincidence. God placed those nurses in that room at exactly the right moment. He gave strangers the courage to act and the skills to save a life. Sometimes His miracles come through willing hands and brave hearts.
