Carrie Underwood Sings Beautiful Cover of ‘How Great Thou Art’

Carrie Underwood performs a stunning rendition of the Christian hymn, ‘How Great Thou Art.’

‘How Great Thou Art’ features on Carrie Underwood’s album of gospel hymns, titled ‘My Savior.’

‘My Savior’ consists of covers of traditional gospel hymns and is a spiritual companion to Carrie’s first-ever Christmas album ‘My Gift.’

‘How Great Thou Art’ is a classic hymn based on a Swedish traditional melody and a poem written by Carl Boberg (1859–1940) in Mönsterås, Sweden, in 1885.

The song was translated into German, then into Russian, and finally into English by the English missionary Stuart K. Hine, who also added two original verses of his own.

O Lord my God! O Lord my God!
How great Thou art!
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

The hymn became very popular after George Beverly Shea and Cliff Barrows sang it regularly during the Billy Graham crusades.

It was voted the UK’s favorite hymn by BBC’s Songs of Praise. Additionally, it was ranked second after ‘Amazing Grace’ in a survey of all-time favorite hymns by Christianity Today magazine in 2001.

Then sings my soul (sings my soul), my Savior God, to Thee (my God to Thee),
How great Thou art (great Thou art), how great Thou art (how great Thou art),
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee (my Savior, my Savior to Thee)
How great Thou art (how great Thou art), how great Thou art!

This beautiful hymn reminds us of the greatness of God and how we can all make it to heaven just because Jesus died on the cross for us.
