Fountainview Academy is a Christian high school based in southern British Columbia, Canada, which holds Province of BC Ministry of Education accreditation. Students come here from all over the world because of its balanced approach to education.

I wanna go to Heaven, and pick a never-fading flower,
From the mountain overlooking the temple of my God.
I wanna go to Heaven, where all is light and glory,
How I long to be with Jesus! How I long to be with God!

The Bible verses for this song can be found in John 14 : 3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Matthew 5 : 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Some times I think that I could stay here no longer.
I feel very lonely here, for I’ve seen a better land!
Oh! That I had wings like a dove,
Then would I fly away, and be at rest.

I Wanna Go To Heaven song story

‘I Wanna To Go To Heaven’ was written by Rick Metcalf in 1981 after reading the first chapter of the book “Early Writings” by Ellen G. White.

I wanna go to Heaven, I wanna hear the voice of Jesus,
“You have washed your robes in my blood, stood stiffly for my truth.”
And when I get to Heaven I’ll cast my crown at Jesus feet!
I wanna praise His name forever!
He has done so much for me!

He was inspired by the imagery of God’s people actually going to heaven, and caught up with her in the wistful quotation from Psalm 55:6 “O that I had wings like a dove, then would I fly away and be at rest.”

I wanna go to Heaven, I wanna pledge my love to Jesus,
“I will gird myself and serve you, for you suffered much for me.”
And when I get to Heaven I wanna sit at Jesus’ table!
Oh! To eat the fruit of that land,
Go back to earth no more!

Today as the young men and women from the Fountainview Academy sing this song while in isolation due to the novel coronavirus pandemic we are filled with a calm assurance that God has prepared a much better place- heaven, for all of us to go to after all the suffering ends here on earth.
