3 Musicians Bring Us to Worship with Live Performance of ‘I’ll Fly Away’

Billy Strings, Chris Thile, and Cory Henry teamed up for a lively version of “I’ll Fly Away.” Albert E. Brumley wrote this hymn in 1929, and it’s known to be the most recorded gospel song.

The performance by Strings, Thile, and Henry was something special. Right from the start, their talent with their instruments and the hymn’s uplifting words filled the room with joy. The crowd got so involved that they sang along, especially at one point a little past a minute and a half into the performance.

It turned up even more uplifting, when the group paused the instruments and started worshipping by clapping to the song. Their performance moved the entire crowd and it ended with a big round of applause.

Comments on YouTube showed a lot of love for the trio. One person said “This is a Grammy winning trio if I’ve ever seen one.” Another person wrote, “Three of the greatest musicians of our time. What a blessing! Thanks for sharing this.”

This beautiful hymn reminds us of God’s eternal promise to His children. It tells us our life on Earth is just a brief journey; we have a heavenly Father preparing a place for us to live forever with Him. Let us live in readiness, like the wise bridesmaids, always prepared for the moment we meet our Lord.

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.John 14:2-3 (NIV)

Verse of the Day

“And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ””
