A police officer in New York amazed millions of people when she joined children playing jump rope and showed off her incredible skills.
We all remember the simple joys from our childhood. Playing outside, laughing with friends, and finding adults who took time to join our games made us feel special and loved.
Officer Sharrika Brent was driving through Mount Vernon when she saw children playing jump rope outside. She asked her partner to stop the car because she wanted to join them.
“I got out the car and I asked them if I could jump,” Brent told FOX 5 News.
What happened next surprised everyone. Officer Brent started jumping rope and showed amazing skills that left the children speechless. Her feet moved so fast and her timing was perfect.
The children cheered and smiled as they watched her perform tricks they had never seen before.
Someone recorded the moment and posted it online. The video on Mount Vernon Police Department’s Instagram account got more than 7 million views in just one day.
People from around the world shared it and left comments about how happy it made them feel.
Officer Brent, who grew up in Brooklyn, has been a police officer for three years. She says joining kids in their games is something she does all the time.
“You don’t see kids outside playing anymore,” she said. “You just see them on their phones, heads down, tablets, whatever. They don’t really play, like, outside, like, how I used to when I was a kid. So, it was kind of refreshing for them to see, and it was refreshing for me.”
