Man Spends His Own Money to Clear Snow for Neighbors After Winter Storm

A St. Louis man is showing us the true meaning of loving neighbors through his selfless act of kindness.

How can we truly love our neighbors as Jesus said in the Bible? It happens when we go beyond words and take their problems as our own. Kenneth Harrell lived this out when he saw the people of Dogtown struggling after a heavy snowstorm.

Kenneth worked at Seamus McDaniel’s in St. Louis, Missouri, when he was a teenager. He still loves that Dogtown neighborhood. He usually spends his time running their family business A & K Concrete with his sister and his nephew.

When the big storm hit, they started out just shoveling sidewalks for a little extra cash.

Kenneth realized quickly that people could walk out of their front doors but their cars were still trapped by deep snow. It didn’t sit right with him. He took the five hundred dollars they had just earned and went to rent a skid steer loader.

He spent the next few days driving that machine through the tightest parts of the neighborhood. He didn’t have a plan to get paid back for the rental or the fuel.

His kindness did not go unnoticed. The story spread on social media, and many people began calling him a hero.

When neighbors asked about the cost, Kenneth just told them to give a donation if they could afford it.

What a thoughtful and generous act. If more people cared for their neighbors this way, our communities would look very different.
