Gaither Vocal Band And Ladye Love Smith Performs Beautiful Cover Of ‘Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary’

The Gaither Band and Ladye Love Smith performed live at the Gaither studios with the members of the Gaither band singing ‘Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary.’

Ladye Love Smith and her husband Reggie have been a part of the Gaither homecoming, initially they were back-up singers in Nashville but later on they did vocal duets and have been a regular feature at many Homecoming concerts and recordings.

‘Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary’ was written by John Moore inspired by a visit to see a severely injured man in the hospital. He told the man a story from Pilgrim’s Progress of how the main character–Christian was able to get rid of his heavy burden the moment he drew near to the cross of Jesus, the man gave his life to Christ.

Days are filled with sorrow and care (sorrow and care)
Hearts are lonely and drear
Burdens are Lifted at Calvary
Jesus is very near

Burdens are lifted at calvary (lifted at Calvary)
Calvary (lifted at Calvary), Calvary (lifted at Calvary)
Burdens are lifted at calvary (lifted at Calvary)
Jesus is very near

Our burdens can be anything- a sinful habit, a broken conscience, desperate search for true love, poor health or financial status, whatever our burden, the master says, “Come to me and I will give you rest.’ He is ready to accept you as you are, forgive and restore you and make you a whole person again. Hallelujah.

Verse of the Day

[The Birth of Jesus Foretold] In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” — Luke 1:26-28 (NIV)
