A bride in Cincinnati got the surprise of her life when her 79-year-old landlord asked to walk her down the aisle.
A wedding is a beautiful occasion where we create memories that stay with us forever.
For a bride, there’s nothing more special than walking down the aisle holding her father’s hand. Even though it lasts only a few seconds, it brings back so many precious memories with her father.
But many brides miss their fathers during such a memorable occasion. For Shacole Fox, this reality hit harder than she ever expected. But God already had a beautiful plan in place.
Shacole Fox runs a makeup studio in Cincinnati. She rents her space from Gil Pulliam, a 79-year-old man who owns the building.
Fox never knew her father. For years, she thought this didn’t bother her. She figured you can’t miss something you never had.
But as her wedding day got closer, things changed. Fox started feeling something she didn’t expect – a deep sadness about walking down the aisle alone.
“When I thought about who would walk me down the aisle, trying to figure out what that looks like, the thought of it was surprisingly painful,” she told CBS News.
Fox never said anything to Pulliam about her feelings. But he knew her story. He understood her family situation. Something in his heart told him what she needed.
So Pulliam did something amazing. He went to Fox and asked if he could walk her down the aisle. “So I went back up to ask Shacole if I could escort her down the aisle,” he said. Fox’s answer came fast and clear: “Yes, yes, yes! And on and on and on.”
The wedding day arrived. Fox was about to marry her husband Victor. As the music started and they prepared to walk down the aisle, Pulliam reached for her hand.
“The music is playing — and I’m getting ready to walk down the aisle — and he grabbed my hand so tight,” Fox remembered. “And it was a really good feeling… Yeah, it still is. Like a wound had been healed in my heart.”
That day, Fox didn’t just gain a husband. She also found a father figure in the most unexpected place.
This story shows us how God fills the empty spaces in our hearts. When we feel alone or broken, He sends someone to stand beside us. Sometimes that someone is a landlord who becomes family.
