A sweet little girl captured everyone’s attention when she pretended to be a librarian.
Most of us remember pretending to be something we wanted to become when we grew up. Some of us played doctor, others pretended to be teachers or police officers.
We threw ourselves into these roles with complete joy and seriousness. This little girl chose to be a librarian, and she put her whole heart into helping others find books.
The young girl knew exactly what to do as she helped someone get a library card. She pointed around the room and explained where everything was.
“We have all those books over there and all grownup books over there,” she said with confidence. You could tell she had watched real librarians work many times before.
The funniest part happened when she asked an important question. “Are you a grownup?” the little girl asked while filling out the form.
When the woman said “No,” the child looked shocked. She wanted to help fix this problem right away.
Her serious face showed she took her job as librarian very seriously.
Once they sort that out, she gets back to work. She talks about library bags, saying, “We have bags for you so if I get a lots of books I can carry them.” She even asks for a phone number and hands over the finished library card.
This little girl clearly spent time in libraries watching how things work. She talked about all the books and resources like she really understood what libraries offer.
Her excitement about helping people find books was genuine and sweet.
Even though she was just playing, this child clearly knows libraries well and has good reading habits.
As parents and grandparents, we need to help our kids love reading too. Books can be just as fun as cartoons or video games, but they give our children so much more.
