The Bible offers powerful verses for Mother’s Day that honor the strength and devotion of mothers throughout Scripture.

Motherhood has held a sacred place in God’s plan since the very beginning. Eve was the first mother tasked with raising humanity alongside Adam (Genesis 3:20).
Hannah prayed so fervently for a child that the priest Eli mistook her for being drunk, but her faith never wavered (1 Samuel 1:9-28). Jochebed risked everything to protect baby Moses by hiding him in a basket on the river (Exodus 2:1-4).
Proverbs 31 describes a woman who is “strong and capable” and cares for her household with wisdom and grace (Proverbs 31:10-31). This passage has become one of the most well-known tributes to motherhood in all of Scripture. It celebrates the everyday sacrifices mothers make for their families.
Even on the cross Jesus thought of His mother. In one of His final acts He looked at the Apostle John and entrusted Mary into his care (John 19:26-27).
These verses remind us that God sees every prayer a mother whispers and every sacrifice she makes.
Motherhood is not easy but Scripture makes it clear that it is deeply valued by God. We can take comfort in knowing that the same God who watched over Hannah and Jochebed watches over the mothers in our lives today.
This Mother’s Day, take time to open your Bible and reflect on the verses that connect with your own mother’s journey. Let her know she is loved. God bless.
