‘O Jerusalem’ Beautiful Song by For Glory & For Beauty

For Glory & For Beauty, a Christian vocal group presented a riveting performance of their original song, ‘O Jerusalem.’

o jerusalem song for glory and for beauty

Born out of prayer and awakening to God’s heart, the song echoes His profound promises for Israel. The group stated in the video description, “This song was birthed in a place of prayer and awakening to the longing of God’s heart for His promises for Israel to be fulfilled.”

‘O Jerusalem’ draws its beautiful lyrics from Psalm 137 and Isaiah 62 & 40, sung in both English and Hebrew. This beautiful song was composed in the spirit of prayer and an awakened longing for the fulfillment of God’s promises for Israel. As stated by the group in their video description, “This song was birthed in a place of prayer and awakening to the longing of God’s heart for His promises for Israel to be fulfilled.”

For Glory & For Beauty has a heart for Jerusalem and shares this through their music. In a recent global fast based on Isaiah 62, they joined over five million people worldwide, praying for God to raise watchmen on the walls for Jerusalem. The group has hopes that their music will stoke the flames of intercession being raised for Israel, referred to in scripture as ‘the apple of His eye.’

In the song’s verse, ‘By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down and we mourned,’ the lyrics recall the sorrow of the Israelites during their Babylonian captivity, longing for Zion, their homeland. The song then shifts to a powerful chorus: ‘If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill.’

The concluding lyrics of the song swells into a stirring declaration, a fervent appeal for God’s redemption and the return of the bridegroom. ‘Daughter of Zion, your salvation is coming… Your Bridegroom is coming again.’

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure.Psalm 122:6
