A police officer in Ohio got the surprise of his shift when a call about suspicious activity turned into a rodeo photo opportunity.

Officer Ronald Hook works for the Alliance Police Department. On November 7, 2025, he got a strange call. Dispatch told him about a “male with cowboy hat riding a whitish bull up and down the parking lot” near the local Walmart.
Officer Hook couldn’t believe what he heard. He asked dispatch, “If I’m reading this right, is he riding like an actual real bull?”
When he arrived at the parking lot, Officer Hook found out the call was real. He got out of his vehicle and saw a cowboy sitting on top of a white bull. “I have so many questions,” he told the cowboy.
The cowboy explained that the bull was named Gus and that Gus was famous.
The pair were traveling through town on their way to a rodeo at Garwood Arena in Columbiana County that weekend.
Officer Hook’s body camera caught the whole thing. He walked up to the bull and asked, “Can I pet Gus?” The cowboy said yes. Then Officer Hook climbed up on Gus for a photo. He laughed and said, “I have so many questions.”
The officer didn’t write any tickets. He just enjoyed the moment. His department shared the funny video on Facebook, and it made people smile all over the country.
