Police Officer’s Emotional Final Call With Dispatcher Daughter Before He Retires

A Facebook video call shared between Chattanooga Police Lt. Austin Garrett with his daughter before he retired has gone viral being viewed 498,000 times and being shared 5000 times.

After 25 years of service to the Chattanooga community, Austin L. Garrett signed off for the final time as a Chattanooga Police Officer on Friday. Austin’s daughter, Haley, was the Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District Dispatcher on the other end of that emotional call. The Chattanooga PD thanks Lt. Garrett for his dedication, leadership, and service and may the best of the past be the worst of his future.

Lt. Garrett has now joined the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, the video of his call with daughter Haley Garrett, shows him becoming emotional as they shared their last officer-dispatcher conversation.Garrett says, “Twenty-five years of service. I’ll be out of service a final time. Be careful. Don’t forget who you are.” Haley seems to be crying while taking her father’s call in the control room. She wished him a farewell with an emotional goodbye.

The clip shows her saying, “Thank you for 25 years of service at the Chattanooga police department,” adding, “You’ve been a mentor and great friend to many during your career. We all wish you well on your future endeavors. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I love you, daddy.”

Chattanooga police also shared the video saying, “After 25 years of service to the Chattanooga community, Austin L. Garrett signed off for the final time as a Chattanooga Police Officer on Friday,” officials wrote alongside the video.
