Christian comedian Tim Hawkins had his audience rolling as he broke down the hilariously different ways men and women text.

Communication is one of the most important things in a marriage. But the way people communicate is so different from person to person.
Some people talk a lot. They want to share every detail of their day. But on the other side you’ve got people who say what they need to say in five words and call it done.
God puts these two types of people together in the same house and expects them to make it work. And you know what? They do. It’s just really funny to watch. And nobody shows that better than Tim Hawkins in this hilarious bit about how men and women text.
Tim gets right into it. Men he says are simple. A couple of words and that’s it. Done. Phone goes back in the pocket.
“Like when men text something, it’s just a couple of words,” he said. And then he just stands there with this blank look like there’s nothing else going on upstairs. He even joked there’s just “a couple of crickets playing racquetball up there.” I mean come on that is so accurate it hurts.
But women? Oh no. Women text like their life depends on it. Tim compared a woman texting to “a squirrel holding a nut” and started doing these frantic hand motions that had the whole room losing it.
“You got a carriage return on your phone,” he said. “Sparks flying off of your palms.” Every married man in that audience was nodding his head.
Then Tim pulled up a real exchange between him and his wife. His text? “Hello, my darling. How you doing today?” Sweet and simple right? Well her response was basically a novel. She covered everything.
Tim read the whole thing out loud and the audience was already gone. Then he showed his reply. One word. “Okay.” He paused and went “Actually it was just okay. That’s all it was. I don’t want to overdo it, get a blister or something.”
Look we laugh at this skit because we’ve lived it. Every single one of us has been on one side of that text exchange. But here’s what I love about it. God made men and women different on purpose. He knew exactly what He was doing when He designed marriage to work with two people who think and communicate in totally opposite ways. That’s not a bug that’s a feature.
So the next time your spouse sends you a three word reply or a five paragraph essay just smile. Thank God for the person He gave you. Because the laughter and the love that comes from those little everyday moments? That’s a gift straight from Him.
“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.” — Job 8:21 (NKJV)
