‘Sounds like Reign’ presented a new music video of Lindsay singing the well-known Christian hymn, ‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus.’
This hymn was written by Louisa.M.R.Stead, who was born in Dover, England, and came to the US in 1871, and lived in Cincinnati. She dedicated her life to missionary work after attending a camp meeting in Urbana, Ohio. She got married in 1875, and had a daughter, Lily.
A tragedy in the family caused Louisa to write this ageless hymn when one day her family decided to enjoy a picnic at Long Island Sound, New York. Her daughter was four years of age then, and while eating their lunch they heard a drowning boy cry out for help in the sea. Mr. Stead jumped into the water but the struggling boy pulled him under water and they both drowned before her daughter and her eyes.
The lyrics of this song was birthed during her time of mourning the death of her husband and asking God why this happened to her family.
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
and to take him at his word;
just to rest upon his promise,
and to know, “Thus saith the Lord.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!
This song has been an inspiration to Christians around the world and has been covered by various artists, today as Lindsay sings this hymn we can feel the presence of the Lord Jesus around us and we are comforted knowing that He will never fail us.
