Comedian Mike Goodwin shared his grandmother’s hilarious wisdom about the two things to worry about in life, and it has people laughing and thinking at the same time.
We all worry about things every day. Bills, health, family, work problems keep us up at night. But sometimes God uses the most surprising people to teach us truth.
Mike’s grandmother had a simple way to look at all our worries that might just change how we think about them.
Mike explained what his grandmother told him: “There are only two things in life that you worry about: whether you’re healthy or whether you’re sick.”
At first, this sounds pretty basic. But his grandmother’s wisdom goes much deeper.
“If you’re healthy, you ain’t got nothing to worry about,” Mike said. “But if you’re sick, you got two things to worry about: Whether you’re going to get better, whether you’re going to get worse.”
The pattern keeps going. If you get better, you have nothing to worry about. But if you get worse, Mike continued, “you got two things to worry about whether you going to live or you going to die.”
Even death does not end the pattern. “If you live, you ain’t got nothing to worry about but if you die you got two things whether you go to heaven whether you going to hell.”
Mike finished with his grandmother’s final point about hell: “you got two things about original or extra crispy.”
The joke gets laughs, but the message hits deep. This grandmother cut through all the noise and worry to show what really matters.
Most things we stress about today will not matter in a year. But our relationship with God matters forever.
Her simple way of thinking reminds us to focus on what truly counts. When we worry about small things, we can remember her wisdom and ask ourselves what really matters for eternity.
