A mother of four has priceless reaction to finding her lost wedding ring after 20 years of searching.
Our wedding rings hold so many memories. They carry the promises we made on our wedding day. They remind us of all the years we walked through life together.
When we lose that ring, it breaks our heart because those memories feel lost too. Dana Popham carried that heartbreak for 20 years, but she never stopped believing God would bring her ring back to her.
The Day Everything Changed
It happened back in 2005. Dana was getting ready in her bathroom when she noticed her wedding ring was gone.
She had four little ones running around the house. The kids were 7, 6, 2, and just 7 months old. Any mom knows how hectic life gets with that many children.
Dana searched everywhere but could not find the ring. She had a strong feeling it fell somewhere near the bathroom cabinet. The space under there seemed too small to reach.
She even tried sliding her phone through a tiny gap in the wood to look for it, but she found nothing.
Moving Forward Without Her Ring
Life went on. Dana bought a fake ring online because she wanted to keep wearing something on her finger. Later, her husband got her a beautiful new wedding set.
But her heart still missed that first ring. It wasn’t fancy or expensive. “He was 21, we were broke. I mean, this ring’s maybe a little less than half a carat. It’s ‘little,’ but it’s so sweet and means so much,” Dana explains.
She was only 19 when they got married, and that little ring meant everything to her.
The Moment She Had Been Waiting For
Twenty years passed. Dana and her husband decided to remodel their bathroom. Dana had an idea. She told her husband she wanted to set up a camera when they removed the cabinet, just in case her ring was really under there.
When they pulled the cabinet out, her husband spotted something. “When we pulled that cabinet out, my husband said, ‘There’s a ring,’ and I just screamed. I just, I’m still shaking,” Dana shared in her viral video.
The ring was there all along. It had been waiting under that cabinet through two decades of family life. Through birthday parties and school plays. Through teenage drama and family vacations. Through good times and hard times. That little ring witnessed it all from its hiding place.
God’s Perfect Timing
Dana believes God promised her she would see that ring again. “I felt like at some point God had promised that one day I would see that ring again, and I did not know how or what or when,” she says.
She never gave up that tiny bit of hope, even when it seemed impossible.
The timing feels perfect to Dana. She and her husband will celebrate 31 years of marriage this year. Three of their four children are now married, and their youngest is getting married soon.
The house is changing as their kids move on with their own lives. Finding the ring now feels like God’s gift as they start this new chapter together.
“There’s a whole season of renewal that’s happening after 31 years of us being married. My kids are out of the nest. It just represents life, the memories, the hard work, and it just seems like God was like, ‘I’m just going to gift this back to you as you and your husband start this next chapter,’ ” Dana said.
