A cat named Muffin got his very own library membership card for a beautiful reason and his story is melting hearts everywhere.

Most of us know how cats are. They do what they want, when they want, and they are known for their mischievous behavior. But every now and then, you come across a cat that breaks the mold. Muffin is that cat.
Instead of lounging around the house all day, this little guy chose a library as his second home. And honestly, there’s something really sweet about that.
Muffin is a five-year-old cat who lives near the Dorval Library in Quebec, Canada. And every single day, without fail, this little guy walks himself over to the library for a visit. He knows the schedule better than some of us know our own.
“He knows when to show up. He knows when we close. He knows which doors to go to as well,” said library staff member Dorothy Black.
His owners, Peter and Janet Bjorn, even call the library to let them know when Muffin is on his way.
Reference librarian Gail Warren remembers the very first call years ago. “And wouldn’t you know it, five minutes later, he was at the front door!” Warren said. You can’t help but smile at that.
Muffin doesn’t bother with the book stacks. He’s there for the people, and honestly, that says something beautiful. “We love him. The clients love him. He’s like, so wonderful to have at the door when you’re walking into the library, you just see people’s faces like light up,” said librarian Kyra Paquet. He even tried hopping into Paquet’s car once.
But Muffin’s adventures go beyond the library. A tracker on his collar shows visits to the community centre next door and even the Royal St-Lawrence Yacht Club. At the yacht club, he snuck under a dining table and brushed someone’s leg.
Peter said people screamed, thinking it was a raccoon or a mouse. That got Muffin banned from the club.
You could say he became gato non grata. But the library? They gave him a lifetime membership card, good for all nine lives.
Document technician Amanda Judd put it best: “I’m more of a dog person, but for him, I’m a crazy cat lady.”
Sometimes the Lord teaches us through the simplest things. Muffin doesn’t do anything extraordinary. He just shows up and loves people. And you know what? We can all bring joy to someone’s life just like that.
We don’t need to try hard. We just need a willing heart to show up for them.
