Walking into a room and just standing there. No clue why we came in. That happens to all of us way more than we’d like to admit. But the thing is it’s not just the kitchen or the hallway. That same fog follows us everywhere lately.
We read an email at work three times and still don’t really know what it said. The kids are right there talking about their day and we’re nodding along, but our heads are somewhere else completely. Then the guilt hits. Because we know we weren’t really there for them and that stings.
And bedtime. That might actually be the worst. The body is done but the brain doesn’t care. It just decides oh now is the perfect time to replay every unmade decision and every awkward conversation from the past two weeks.
