Breathtaking rainbow clouds in Indonesia stunned thousands of people after videos of the rare natural phenomenon were shared online.
God has often used the heavens to speak to us. He used a star to guide the wise men to Jesus in Bethlehem. He turned the sky dark in the middle of the day when His Son was crucified on the cross.
And right now in 2026 these marvelous clouds are declaring His glory and reminding us of what the Bible says about the signs in the heavens during the end times.
What Happened in Jonggol
On May 1 2026 residents in the town of Jonggol near Jakarta Indonesia looked up and saw clouds glowing with intense shades of pink green and blue. The colors were so vivid that people literally pulled their cars over on the road just to record it.
Videos flooded social media and honestly most people thought it was AI generated because it just looked too perfect to be real. But nope. The Indonesian Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency confirmed it. This was 100% real and natural.
The Science Behind It
So what actually causes something like this? It’s called cloud iridescence. A regular rainbow happens when light bends through raindrops. But iridescence is different. Sunlight hits these super tiny uniform water droplets in a thin cloud and the light diffracts which basically means it spreads out into all these wild colors.
In this case the colors formed on what they call a pileus cloud which is this thin cap that forms really fast on top of a big storm cloud. Because it forms so quickly the droplets stay the same size and that’s what makes the colors pop so vividly.
We Cannot Ignore the Signs
Now cloud iridescence does happen from time to time. But usually it’s faint. Small. Easy to miss. What happened over Indonesia was not that. This was massive. This was intense. And it happened in a year where we have already seen so many signs that should make us pay attention.
This year alone we have seen major earthquakes in places that don’t normally get them. Fireballs coming from the sky. Volcanic activity in regions that have been quiet for decades. Wars and rumors of wars that could spiral into something catastrophic. And now this stunning rainbow clouds that we haven’t seen in our lifetimes.
Psalm 19:1 says “The heavens declare the glory of God and the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” That’s exactly what we saw over Indonesia. The sky was literally declaring who God is.
No scientist no engineer no AI can replicate what God did in that moment. They can study it and measure it and give it a name but they cannot make it happen. Only God can do that.
Romans 8:22 says all of creation groans as it waits for what is coming. And what is coming is the return of Jesus Christ. The signs are right there in front of us we just have to be willing to see them.
This Should Wake Us Up
We need to understand something. God is not being quiet right now. He is speaking loud and clear through His creation. The signs are everywhere if we are willing to see them. And whether you’ve been walking with God your whole life or you’ve been distant lately this is a wake-up call. Time is not standing still. It is moving and it is moving fast.
So let this moment do something in your heart. Let the beauty of what God displayed in that sky remind you that He is real He is powerful and He is coming back.
Don’t let another sign pass you by without it drawing you closer to Him. Because every sign we see in the heavens is pointing to the same truth — God is sovereign and the return of Jesus is closer than we think.
