A young man who has lived his whole life in a wheelchair is sharing a powerful message on how to have unshakable faith during difficult times.
Jamey Carrington is a popular online evangelist who makes videos to help people who are struggling with their relationship with God. In his video, he talks about how people try so hard to be good Christians.
We read the Bible and we pray every day but we still feel like our faith just fizzles out when real trouble comes. He says that happens because we are trying to create faith using our own human energy.
He explains it based on three Bible verses that show us the truth. First he points to Mark 9:24 where a father cries out to Jesus and says “I believe; help my unbelief.” Then he looks at Luke 17:5 where the apostles themselves look at the Lord and say “Increase our faith.” Finally he uses Romans 12:3 which says that God has given a specific measure of faith to every single person.
So when you look at these verses together you see a clear pattern. Faith is not something we achieve with our own efforts. It is a gift that comes straight from God.
Jamey explains that true belief is divine and it only comes when you stop trying to do it all by yourself and fully depend on God.
He concluded his message with a bold question, “The question is not do you have the faith, it’s do you have the humility to ask for that faith.” You have to ask God for it because it is not man made.

Jamey Carrington’s own life is a great example of an unshakeable faith. He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 when he was only one year old. This is a genetic disease that breaks down the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord. It makes the muscles weaker and weaker as time goes on.
Jamey cannot walk and he has to use a feeding tube for his nutrition. His dad has to take care of him full time at home because he cannot do basic daily tasks by himself.
Jamey does not complain about his life or get angry at God. Instead of viewing his wheelchair as a burden he openly shares that his disability is the exact tool that Jesus uses to heal and comfort other people. He believes that his weakness allows the hope of God to be put on full display for his viewers.
As Jamey Carrington said, we cannot build true faith by ourselves. We should receive it from our Heavenly Father. There may be many situations that test our Christian life.
In those moments, instead of asking God to change our circumstances, let us ask God to increase our faith.
When we have that shift in our prayer life we will receive the kind of strength that no storm in this world can ever wash away.
