I often think about how God places us in specific locations at just the right minute to look out for one another. It warms my heart to see someone slow down and care for a neighbor in distress because that is exactly how we show Christ’s love in this world.

A local man named Ryan Carter was driving home when he spotted something unusual in the road. He quickly realized a woman named Miss Minnie had fallen off her walker into a water filled hole and could not get up. He had taken a class on Florida’s Good Samaritan law not long ago so he started recording on his Meta glasses before stepping up to help.

Ryan spoke gently to her and asked “What do you need from me? Need me to pick you up?”

Miss Minnie hoped she could stand up on her own in a minute or two but she was truly stuck. Ryan stayed calm and helped lower her fear by counting down to lift her up safely under her arms.

“I saw somebody in a desperate situation, and I just wanted to be the hand that she could depend on,” Ryan said. He gave her water, drove her back home safely and even called later to check on her wellbeing. “And she has been perfectly fine, and I’m actually looking forward to being reacquainted with her here in the near future,” he shared.

His friend Johnnie Owens posted the footage online to give credit to Ryan for being a good human being. But Ryan did not look for praise or credit for doing the right thing. “Simple acts of kindness should be normal. Just instinctively. You do what’s right at all times, and most importantly, you do right because it feels right to do right. You don’t do it expecting something in return,” he said.

People are becoming so selfish nowadays and many do not care what others are going through because they are blinded by the things of this world. As believers, God wants us to come out of our own blindness to see the people around us who need our help and act in a way that brings glory to Him.

When others see your actions, they should see the Christ in you. We are called to serve and love others as He did. We are the representatives of the King of Kings on the earth so we should live each day with that thought in our minds.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
