Ann B. Davis, famous for playing Alice on the hit show ‘The Brady Bunch’, shared a beautiful story about how she found true peace through her relationship with Jesus Christ.
We often chase after things like a nice house or a steady job because we think they will make us happy. But even after achieving those things, we still feel a void in our hearts that cannot be filled by success alone.
Actress Ann B. Davis went through the same struggle and her testimony still speaks to us.
During a 2007 interview in Sullivan, Illinois, Ann looked back on her long career in show business. She talked about the uncertainty of acting and how she worked from one job to the next. Even with all her success, she felt a void while filming ‘The Brady Bunch’.
“I’ve paid off some debts that I got from the two successful series, and I own my own home. I have friends and all this,” Ann said. Even though she had these wonderful blessings, she still felt a deep emptiness inside.
She found herself wondering, “What is it I think I’m missing?” This feeling helped her realize that even the best things in life cannot fill the space in our hearts meant for God.
Ann said, “I began to feel that something was missing in my life.” She eventually understood what she lacked.
She shared, “I came to the conclusion that there’s a God-shaped space in everybody’s heart. And until you feel that space with God, you never know what it feels like to be whole and complete.”
Ann grew up as a Christian but said she did not become a “practicing, living Christian” until she was in her 40s. She eventually moved into a Christian community where she lived with other believers. She was very humble about her fame and the money she earned.
Ann said, “I’ve had everything the world has to offer. God made me a better offer.” Ann passed away in 2014 at the age of 88, but her testimony stays with us.
This story encourages us to look at our own lives and see if we are trying to fill our hearts with the wrong things. Our first priority should be our relationship with Jesus Christ. Without Him, nothing can give us everlasting peace.
