Amy Grant Shares About Her Open Heart Surgery: ‘It Felt Miraculous’

Popular Christian artist, Amy Grant recently shared her experience of having an open heart surgery and said it was ‘miraculous’ on her official Facebook page.

Amy shared photos of the scar from her surgery and wrote, “I know there is so much going on in the world right now. This is a crazy, broken, yet beautiful time.”

She revealed, “In the midst of all of that – in the midst of all of our awareness and becoming and learning to love and see each other – I’ve had this really unique experience of having an unanticipated open heart surgery.”

On June 3, Amy’s representative announced her condition and said that she had to go through surgery for partial anomalous pulmonary venous return and asked her followers to pray for her.

The doctor discovered Amy’s condition last February at age 59. “As always, I am feeling great, but the battery of tests he put me through show that I have had a heart condition since birth,” she wrote earlier this year. “The first good news is that I am completely asymptomatic. The second good news is that it’s fixable, so instead of concerts and camping trips this summer, I am going to take care of my heart.”

Later on this month, her publicist, Velvet Kelm said that Amy’s surgery went well, which was confirmed by the singer in her new post declaring the prayers got her through.

“The only way I can explain my experience would be to ask you to imagine a non-runner who was signed up for a marathon. I didn’t want it, but I had to have it anyway and it was a week ago Wednesday. And as people heard about the surgery I started getting messages: ‘I’m praying for you’ …’I’m praying for you,’” she explained.

Miraculous Experience

Further, Amy Grant said, “And now, ten days later, I just want to say, from the moment I went to the hospital, if it really were a marathon race, I felt like I got into that runners block and as soon as it was time for the race to start there was this massive West Texas wind at my back.. just pushing me through.”

She said, “Even stuff I was really scared about felt like nothing more than just a deep breath and something supernatural pushed me through it.”

“My recovery has honestly felt miraculous. And so I want to say thank you to each person who said a prayer for me. Prayer changes everything. Let’s keep those prayers going for our country and let’s turn all the brokenness into love and seeing each other. I love you.”

We thank God for the miraculous healing of Amy Grant and pray that she completely recovers and remains in good health.

Prayers for healing for you and for you to have a full, and quick recovery! I also pray that you follow you doctor’s instructions. Be vigilant! Prayers for your family, too, that they will assist you in all that you need for them to do for you, as you are resting, and that you will continue to sense Jesus Peace, our Prince of Peace. You have always encouraged me with your gift of song, and now it’s time for me to thank you and pray with and for you!!

Blessings, Love and Joy, Kim

Verse of the Day

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ — Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)
