Anne Wilson gave a live performance of her song ‘Praying Woman’ and dedicated it to her mom and all the praying mothers in the crowd. She spoke to the audience before singing and shared how the song was written.
Many of us grew up seeing our mothers and grandparents pray with tearful eyes in the morning or late at night. We didn’t always understand their burden, but their prayers built something in us. It shaped our faith and helped us become who we are today.
Anne Wilson brings those memories back to the front of our hearts with a heartfelt performance.
Anne co-wrote ‘Praying Woman’ with country singer Lainey Wilson. She told the crowd it was their first time writing together. “We were sitting down… and we were talking about how we were raised in a Christian home. We were raised to love God and country,” she said. “We kind of had this, this thing in common about our moms… just the incredible moms they’ve been in our lives.”
The song ‘Praying Woman’ was released in 2023. It tells the story of a woman whose strength comes from her faith. She starts her day at the kitchen table, reading Bible and sipping coffee. She prays through every season of life—for her family, for the people she loves, for guidance and strength.
Before that rooster’s crowin’, she’s kitchen table sittin’
Underlining the gospel and black coffee sippin’
…
That’s the power of two folded hands, bowed head, bended knees
When she whispers, ‘Dear Jesus,’ Heaven can hear it
And that devil gets back to hell runnin’
Anne’s mom was in the audience that night. She said, “We’re so grateful for how they’ve always gotten on their knees and prayed for the things that they wanted to see in life and prayed for their spouses and their children.” She dedicated the song to her and to all the mothers listening.
The audience clapped and cheered when she finished.
