Maybe we wonder if God really notices the small problems in our lives. When the car will not start, the washing machine breaks down, or the phone suddenly stops working.

God knows the things we stress over even the ones we do not say out loud. His response does not always come in the way we expect.

Sometimes He provides an unexpected solution. Other times, He sends the right person at the right moment to help, just as He did through this Secret Santa for this young teen.

Natalie Dickson is the only girl in a family of eight children in Rexburg, Idaho. She runs her own bakery called The Baking Ninja.

For three years, she has sold gourmet cookies and sweet rolls at the Rexburg Farmers Market. Natalie homeschools and takes college classes at BYU-Idaho at the same time.

Her family says she acts like a second mother to her younger brothers. She helps care for them while building her business.

Then their oven died. A family of 10 needs that oven every single day. And Natalie had orders waiting. She needed that oven for her business. The timing felt impossible.

Secret Santa heard about Natalie. This anonymous person gives away $1 million each year to people in eastern Idaho who need help.

The East Idaho News team showed up at Natalie’s door with a surprise. They handed her an envelope with ten gift cards to Home Depot. Each card had $500 on it. That’s $5,000 total.

The surprise left Natalie speechless. She could barely express her excitement over the Secret Santa’s gift. But later, Natalie sent an email to the team.

She wrote, “As soon as you left and we closed the door, I asked my mom if what just happened was real—if we really could now afford all the things I want for my baking business and need for our large family. I don’t feel that this is something I deserve for just being the small, obscure Baking Ninja, but I feel so seen and loved.”

This young woman works hard. She takes care of her brothers. She runs a business. She studies. And when everything seemed to fall apart, God sent help through a stranger’s kindness. That’s how He works.

God sees the faithful ones. He knows when our ovens break and our dishwashers stop. Nothing escapes His notice. And sometimes, He sends His answer wrapped in Home Depot gift cards and delivered by people who want to share His love.
