A mysterious black ring in the sky over Kansas stunned people across the nation and sparked a wave of debate online.
When we look up at the sky, we can’t help but think about how amazingly God has created everything. The beautiful clouds, stars—everything—declares His glory.
Recently, people in a small town were surprised to see a strange black ring floating in the sky.
On a regular afternoon in Bonner Springs, Kansas, a man riding his motorcycle noticed traffic slowing down on County Road 2.
He looked up and saw a large black ring hanging in the sky. He pulled over, took out his phone, and began recording.
“I’m almost 50 years old. I ain’t ever seen nothing like that,” he said.
His video shows a thick, black ring with smoke moving inside it. At one point, he said, “Can somebody tell me what the (expletive) is this? And I’m not using no app… it appears that little black stuff has fallen down the center of it.”
Another person in the background wondered if it might be a flock of birds.
The man posted the video on Facebook, and it quickly got a lot of attention. “My phone just kind of blew up,” he said.
Local news picked up the story, and people online started sharing their thoughts. Some thought it might be weather-related. Others wondered if it was something more unusual.
Meteorologists from FOX Weather reviewed the video and gave a likely explanation. They said it was probably caused by an explosion. Similar to how a mushroom cloud forms, fast-rising air can trap smoke into a circular shape.
It might have come from fireworks, a power transformer, or some industrial activity. The man also said people in a nearby town, Tonganoxie, had seen smaller rings like it the day before.
Around the same time, people in Seattle also spotted a black ring in the sky. It appeared near T-Mobile Park, while a Mariners game was happening.
Across the street at Lumen Field, a Supercross Championship event was underway.
FOX 13 Seattle contacted the National Weather Service, who confirmed it wasn’t caused by any weather activity.
Organizers from the stadium and event said it might have come from pyrotechnics used during the motocross event.
Though this incident may be related to weather, fireworks, or other manmade activity, it still reminds us of what the Bible says about the last days.
The Bible tells us that before Jesus returns, there will be signs in the skies and on the earth. Luke 21:11 says, “And there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.”
Let us be prepared like the wise brides with oil in their lamps—He could return at any time.
