93-Year-Old Man Has Given Away 6,000 Chocolate Bars To Strangers In A Decade

An elderly 93-year-old man is creating sweet memories for rank strangers by distributing bars of chocolates to rank strangers for over a decade now.

Every Saturday for the last 11 years, Bob Williams is at the local Dollar General store in Long Grove, Iowa so he can take advantage of their special weekly sale where it offers a $5 discount on purchases of $25 or more.

Williams always buys three Hershey’s chocolate bars, not for himself, but gives two to the store employees and one to the person in line behind him.

It has been a decade now that Williams has been giving away chocolate and is known as a local legend having given away 6,000 chocolate bars to strangers and is even nicknamed “The Candy Man”.

So when Hershey’s learned about Williams’s chocolate-driven campaign to make his neighbors happy, they endeavored to keep his fridge stocked with as many chocolate bars he could give away. They also shot a promotional video for him in which they interviewed city residents impacted by his generosity.

“I don’t think he realizes the effect he has on people,” said one adoring town local of Williams. Another one remarked that he’s “teaching all of us how to pay it forward.”

A small act of kindness as this can really make a big difference in the lives of people.
