A man known as “Bucket Guy” is bringing smiles to fans and players at Utah Hockey Club games with his quick moves and a fun pirouette on the ice.
God gives each of us special gifts. Sometimes they seem small, but when we use them with love and joy, they can bless a lot of people.
Whether we are on a big stage or in everyday work, what we do with a cheerful heart reflects God’s goodness. It reminds us to use every chance we have to bring light and happiness to others.
Tim Oliphant, also called “Bucket Guy,” is part of the TruFru Ice Crew at Utah Hockey Club. Fans at the Delta Center love watching him skate fast and spin with his shovel before leaving the ice.
“A lot of people think I do it for the flair, which I do a little bit,” he said. “But I also do it because it slows down the bucket. Slowing down the momentum, it’s much easier for me.”
Tim grew up playing hockey and always dreamed of being close to the game. “I love my job,” he said. “Being out there with the players and being surrounded by 16,000 fans. This is everything I could have ever imagined.”
Tim first worked with the Florida Panthers but moved to Utah when his job as a flight attendant brought him there. He kept checking online, waiting for the chance to join the new NHL team.
“As soon as I saw that the team was confirmed for Utah, I was looking online every single day for this job,” he shared. Even players like Nick Bjugstad noticed Tim’s energy.
This story reminds us that when we do what we love with all our heart, people notice, even if we do not expect it. God uses every willing heart to bring joy to others.
