Comedian Don McMillan tries AI chatbot ChatGPT for the first time and its responses leave his audience in stitches.
AI is everywhere now. It’s in our phones giving us directions, picking our music, and even finishing our sentences when we text.
Most of us use these tools every day without thinking twice about it. We see people trusting AI to write their emails or handle important decisions without stopping to check if the answers even make sense.
Some even ask it for medical advice or let it choose their investments. God gave us minds to think and discern, and it is worth asking what happens when we stop using them.
McMillan Puts AI to the Test
Don McMillan wanted to see for himself just how smart this technology really is.
McMillan has been making people laugh with his PowerPoint comedy shows for over 20 years. He’s an engineer who knows his way around technology, but even he was curious about this new AI everyone was talking about. So he decided to test it out himself.
The Unexpected Response
He started simple. McMillan asked ChatGPT, “Is there intelligent life on Mars?” The AI’s response made the entire room laugh. It answered back:
“There is currently no confirmed evidence of intelligent life on Mars or any other planet in our solar system.”
McMillan paused and told his audience, “That is not a good sign. Ladies and gentlemen, we are not looking good. It already doesn’t think we’re intelligent.”
The crowd was already enjoying this, but what happened next sent them into fits of laughter. McMillan tried again with a different question.
He asked, “Is there not intelligent life on Earth?” ChatGPT’s response had the audience rolling: “Yes there is much not intelligent life on Earth.”
People couldn’t stop laughing at this unexpected comeback.
McMillan Asks AI to Write a Joke
McMillan decided to test ChatGPT’s comedy skills. He asked it to write a joke about Hermosa Beach. What the AI came up with had the crowd groaning and clapping at the same time.
It created this pun: “Did you hear about Minute Mate that Minutemate has sponsored Hermosa Beach? It will now be called Mimosa Beach.”
The audience gave it polite applause, but McMillan wasn’t impressed with the AI’s humor.
When he asked why ChatGPT jokes weren’t funny, the bot gave him a response that brought down the house: “We have all your data. We know where you live. You will be assimilated.”
The audience erupted in laughter at this unexpectedly creepy and funny comeback.
Can AI Replace Humans?
It is good to explore new technologies like AI that can help us with everyday tasks. But at the same time, we need to be careful about how much we rely on them.
God gave us the ability to think and make wise choices. McMillan’s funny conversation with ChatGPT shows that these tools are not perfect. They can be useful, but they will never replace our own judgment and a healthy sense of humor.
