6 Trombone Players Give a Herd of Cows a Private Concert And Their Response Says It All

Six musicians stepped into a sunny pasture with their trombones and performed Meghan Trainor’s ‘Mother’ for a herd of cows that walked right up to listen.

Farmer Derek and five friends — Alex Young, Michael Dawson, Lucas Hulett, Greg Moose, and Randy Crow — lined up in the middle of a green field on a bright afternoon.

No stage. No audience seats. Just open grass and grazing cattle. The group raised their trombones and launched into a bouncy, brassy arrangement of ‘Mother.’

The cows noticed immediately. They stopped grazing, lifted their heads, and turned toward the sound. Within moments, they started walking closer. Some stopped a few feet away.

Others formed a loose circle around the musicians, standing still and watching the trombone slides move back and forth.

The Herd Became the Audience

Throughout the entire performance, the cows stayed locked in. Nobody spooked. Nobody wandered off. A few chewed their grass in a steady rhythm that honestly looked like they were nodding along to the beat.

The deep vibrations of the trombones seemed to hold their full attention, and they stood calm and focused from the first note to the last.

When the song wrapped up with a big flourish, the herd lingered close by. They appeared relaxed and satisfied, like they had just enjoyed a private concert right in their own home — which they had.
