Dolly Parton first wrote ‘Light of a Clear Blue Morning’ back in 1976 when her life was going through some really big shifts. The song finally came out in 1977 on her album called ‘New Harvest…First Gathering.’ She was searching for a way out of a hard season, and these lyrics became her path forward.

Dolly once said about the track, “It was my song of deliverance. It was my song of freedom, and I knew that God was in it.”

The song tells a story that we can all relate to. The song tells us that everything is going to be all right. It’s written like a conversation with yourself and with the Lord. The lyrics talk about seeing the light of a brand new day after a long, hard fight.

This new version for 2026 brings together such a special group of women with supporting vocals from Christ Church Choir. You have country greats like Reba and Lainey Wilson standing next to Dolly’s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus. Then you have Queen Latifah adding her voice to the mix. They all sound so beautiful together.

We often want the “clear blue morning” to happen right now. But sometimes, the “long dark night” mentioned in the song is where our faith actually grows legs. If you are in a hard spot, don’t give up. The light is already on its way.

Lord, help us to see the light even when it feels far away. We trust that You are leading us to a better place. Thank You for the morning. Amen.
