Mom Sees ‘Hand of God’ in Ultrasound After Praying for Baby with Heart Problem

A Kentucky mom says she saw the Hand of God in her baby’s ultrasound after praying for healing from a serious heart problem.

We all know that feeling when something goes wrong with our children. Our hearts drop, and we turn to prayer faster than anything else.

Amanda Foster did exactly the same thing, but what happened next stunned thousands of people.

The Scary Diagnosis

33-year-old Amanda Foster is eight months pregnant with a baby boy. During her pregnancy, doctors found a serious heart problem with her son.

The baby had an issue with the wall that separates parts of the heart near the aorta. This is the big artery that carries blood from the heart to the body.

Without treatment, this condition can be life-threatening.

But Amanda didn’t panic. She prayed. Before every doctor visit, she got on her knees right there in the medical office.

“I’ve asked the Lord repeatedly to please keep His hand on my baby,” she said. She prayed this same prayer over and over.

The First Miracle

Then something amazing happened. The follow up visits showed the heart problem was completely gone. The doctors couldn’t explain it, but Amanda knew exactly what had happened.

‘Hand of God’ Appears in Ultrasound

At her 32 week ultrasound appointment, Amanda brought her youngest daughter Bailey along.

Bailey looked at the screen and asked a question that made everyone in the room stop and stare. “Whose hand is that?” she asked.

There on the ultrasound screen was what looked like a large hand holding the baby’s head.

Not just touching it, but actually cradling it like someone protecting a child.

Amanda and her husband Kyle stared at the image in amazement.

A Heartbreaking Past

This wasn’t Amanda’s first battle during the pregnancy. She got pregnant with her first son when she was just 17.

At 18 weeks, she received the heartbreaking news from her doctors that the baby had Potter’s syndrome.

This condition happens when a baby’s kidneys don’t develop properly or are completely missing. It affects lung development and can also lead to physical deformities.

Babies with Potter’s syndrome usually don’t survive, and Amanda lost her first child.

The loss hit Amanda so hard it nearly destroyed her faith.

“My thought at that time was, ‘Well, if God is going to take my son, He will take me too!'” she said. When that didn’t happen, Amanda got angry at God.

Making things worse, doctors told her she probably would never have a healthy baby boy since Potter syndrome affects boys more often.

Years of Anger and Pain

Amanda and her husband Kyle later had two healthy daughters. But Amanda was still struggling inside.

“I never doubted that God wasn’t real, I just didn’t want anything to do with Him because of what He had done to me,” Amanda explained.

Amanda lived what she calls a “chaotic and miserable life” for a long time. The pain and anger ate at her every day.

The Turning Point

Everything changed in September 2021. Amanda was tired of being angry and broken. She gave her life to Jesus Christ, and from that moment, everything got better.

By November, she was pregnant again. In March 2022, she found out it was a healthy baby boy. That son is now almost three years old.

When Amanda got pregnant this time with another boy, she was both excited and worried.

The heart condition diagnosis brought back all those old fears. But this time, she handled things differently. Instead of getting angry, she got on her knees.

‘Hand of God’ Ultrasound Picture

Amanda posted the ultrasound picture on Facebook with this message: “Each time before ultrasounds I’ve dropped to my knees right in the doctors office to pray over Kyler. In my prayers for him I’ve asked the Lord repeatedly to please keep his hand on my baby and whatever his plan may be to help me trust fully in it at ease.”

The post got over 47,000 likes and hundreds of comments. “This is the wildest thing I’ve ever seen,” wrote one person.

Another said, “Goodness!! You asked and HE answered! This is such a blessing to see!”

Some people suggested the hand might actually be the baby’s own hand, just distorted by the ultrasound machine. But as one commenter pointed out, “In the picture that’s a right hand.”

If it was the baby’s hand, it would look like a left hand from that angle.

Amanda ended her Facebook post with a Bible verse from Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

God’s Hand at Work

For Amanda, this ultrasound image proves that God hears our prayers and responds in ways we never expect.

After losing her first son and spending years angry at God, she found her way back to faith. Now she’s seeing God work miracles in her life.

Amanda’s story shows us that God can turn our worst pain into something beautiful.

When we pray and trust Him, even when things look scary, we can see the hand of God working on our situations in miraculous ways.

Verse of the Day

“Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.””

Revelation 21: 2-4
