It is so true that a woman’s life changes from the very moment a baby is formed in her womb. We can see how God is preparing her both mentally and physically for months to become a mother.

Motherhood comes with challenges. It is not only the sleepless nights and busy schedules a new mom faces. Many women struggle with postpartum depression and it often feels far bigger than what we could ever handle on our own.

Just think how difficult it would be for a young mom to find her way through that kind of darkness. That heavy season is where Hannah’s journey truly began.

Hannah is 25 years old and has three little ones at home. She discovered her calling while she was a child. She spent seven years traveling on a tour bus from coast to coast to sing for the Lord. But God was preparing her for something bigger.

During her recent audition on American Idol she opened up about her struggle with postpartum depression. After her youngest son was born she found herself wallowing on the couch in a deep pity party. She did not want anyone to reach for her.

While she was praying for the Lord to calm her spirit her son kept pestering her to open his snack.

She just wanted to be left alone with that “dadgum cheese.” When she finally opened it she felt a nudge from God. She realized her house was not a place of defeat but the biggest ministry she could ever have.

“I realized that God had put me in that place and that where I was in my house was the biggest ministry that I could ever have in being a mom.”

Hannah did not let that depression ruin her ministry. She got up and wrote a postpartum depression song called “String Cheese” to capture that turning point.

During her audition she told the judges that her kids saved her life. Her moving performance left Carrie Underwood in tears.

She told Hannah it was “the most relatable song” she had ever heard.

Luke Bryan loved her “mountainous bluegrass sound” and said it made him think about Kacey Musgraves, Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton.

Lionel Richie praised her storytelling ability and shared how moving it was.

All three judges gave her a “yes” to go to Hollywood. Hannah proved that even when we want to run away and hide God is right there in the chaos of our living rooms.
