Afshin Javid, a former Hezbollah fighter, dedicated his life to converting Christians to Islam, carrying out dangerous missions, and even harboring hatred for Jews. His journey took a miraculous turn when he encountered Jesus in a Malaysian jail, leading to an incredible transformation.
Afshin Javid was deeply entrenched in his Muslim faith, dedicating his life to pleasing Allah. His commitment was so intense that he volunteered for dangerous missions, such as working on landmines and participating in hangings. He believed these extreme acts of devotion would earn him favor in the eyes of his god.
His journey took a sudden turn when he was arrested in Malaysia. Afshin was on his way to the United States, carrying 30 illegal passports with him. His goal was to convert Christians to Islam.
During his time in jail, amidst prayers and religious fervor, Afshin encountered a divine presence that challenged everything he believed in. “I was praying, and a man appeared in front of me. He shone like light, and I knew instantly that he was holy and I was not,” Afshin recalled.
Feeling unworthy and desperate, he cried out for forgiveness, not expecting the grace that was about to be bestowed upon him. “He touched me and said, ‘I forgive you.’ I was confused. I knew only God could forgive, and this was not Allah. ‘Who are you?’ I asked, and he said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life,’” Afshin shared, his voice filled with awe.
In that divine encounter, Afshin’s heart was transformed. His hatred, particularly towards Jews, melted away, replaced by a love and compassion he had never known. “God didn’t design us to hate,” Afshin realized, embracing his newfound faith.
Now, as the leader of the ministry Cyrus Call, Afshin is committed to building bridges between Persians and Jews.
