Almighty God protects us every single day even when we do not realize the hidden dangers around us. When sudden trouble comes our way His mercy keeps us safe and gives us quiet strength.

Thomas Fahmy was just walking out of his Staten Island home on his way to a dentist appointment during a heavy rainstorm. A doorbell camera nearby recorded the whole thing as dark clouds poured rain over the neighborhood. All of a sudden a bright flash of lightning struck right near his foot by a white picket fence.

The electrical current surged through his body right away. He later spoke about how terrifying it felt when it hit him. He said, “Once the lightning bolt struck me, the initial sensations that I had throughout my whole body were like completely unprecedented, tingling, numbness, pain, just I feel this burning sensation” as reported by ABC7 news.

Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital where doctors kept him overnight to run tests. Surprisingly doctors found no burn marks on him anywhere. He was so grateful and said, “No burns. I had multiple body exams, no burns at all.”

A single bolt of lightning can carry up to 300 million volts of electricity. That massive power generates heat five times hotter than the surface of the sun and can easily stop a heart or cause terrible burns.

Most people suffer deep nerve damage or severe injury, so it is nothing short of a miracle that he walked away with zero burns. Can any human or machine stop such a massive force from touching us? Nothing but our God can.

Fahmy experienced this firsthand and could not stop thanking Him. “I went on church Sunday to say thank you God,” Fahmy said.

We cannot live without God for a single moment. It is only by His grace that we are still breathing. Before you go somewhere, before you make a decision, or before you drive, let prayer be your very first step. It protects us and reminds us that He’s always with us.

No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.

Psalm 91:10–11 (NKJV)

Please pray for Thomas as he recovers from this shocking experience and continues to give thanks to God.
