A 13-year-old gospel singer named Mekhi McClain stunned the audience on The Jennifer Hudson Show with his performance of ‘Safe in His Arms.’
Mekhi sang ‘Safe in His Arms,’ drawn from the words of Psalm 23. The audience started cheering before he even reached the chorus.
When he finished singing, Jennifer Hudson was quick to talk about how incredible it was: “You have just blessed the happy place.” Then she said something to the audience that landed even harder: “That is what you call an anointing.”
But here is what makes this even more remarkable. Mekhi’s love for music started when he was just 2 years old. His grandmother used to play Whitney Houston around the house, and when Mekhi heard ‘I Love the Lord’ from ‘The Preacher’s Wife’ soundtrack, something in him woke up. That became his first church solo.
On his birthday, a video of him singing ‘Total Praise’ went viral. His mother later shared that people battling cancer reached out to say his voice brought them healing. Mekhi just said, “I like to see how the message moves people.”
This young man is 13 years old and already brings comfort and joy to many through his gospel performances. Can we use the gifts that God has given us to spread the good news like this brave child?
There is not much time. The harvest is ready, but the workers are few. We cannot wait for tomorrow. Today is the moment to rise, to serve, and to use the gifts God has given us.
