Dedicated school staff and a group of bright students turned an ordinary school event into a viral middle school pep rally dance that left the entire gym cheering.
Bless my heart, watching this wonderful clip brought back so many sweet memories of my own school days. You see a grand gymnasium packed with bright young faces up in the bleachers all clapping and laughing together.
Down on the hardwood floor, several pairs of teachers and students line up neatly, waiting for their turn to bring pure joy to the floor.
What caught my eye was how seamlessly each pair stepped forward together. One student and teacher pair comes out to the center, dances right to the rhythm, and then the next pair take their turn. Even a football coach and a uniformed school resource officer step up in their own pairs to show off their best moves to the roaring crowd.
These surprise routines have become a beloved tradition in American middle schools during annual homecoming assemblies and spirit weeks.
Dancers from the school squad work secretly alongside staff members after class to practice their steps. It creates a delightful curiosity gap for the student body who never expect to see their instructors dancing on the gym floor.
It is such a wholesome sight seeing these school staff step out of their formal roles to spend some joyful time with these children.
These days, we see such a rise in depression and anxiety among our young people. I believe the most important reason for this is that they do not have a person they trust to share their problems and worries. And we know they spend most of their time at school.
So these teacher-student friendships can definitely make a positive impact on them and help build the character they need to face life’s challenges with courage and hope.
