A Georgia couple says their baby boy was brought back to life by the power of God, after he was born with no signs of life and given little chance to survive.
When people go through a crisis, they often look for something solid to hold on to. For many of us, that hope is in God.
In this story, the parents leaned on their faith and prayed, even when doctors gave them little reason to hope. They believed that God could still work through the situation, and they saw a response that they say only He could bring.
Healthy Pregnancy Takes a Sudden Turn
Tessa and Vintrez Davis were expecting their second child, and everything had gone well during the pregnancy. But on January 16, as Tessa was being induced at Piedmont Columbus Regional, complications arose quickly.
Doctors quickly decided she needed an emergency C-section. “It took about seven minutes for them to deliver from saying it to him coming out,” Tessa said.
Baby Born with No Signs of Life
When their son Landon was delivered, he showed no signs of life. He had no heartbeat. The medical team immediately started CPR and tried everything they could. They performed CPR three times, but nothing seemed to work. Landon remained unresponsive.
Doctors Work Quickly to Save Him
Dr. Jerry Chen, a neonatologist at the hospital, was urgently called to the operating room. “The picture that was forming as Landon came into the world and as we stabilized him in the OR and in the unit—it was one of devastation,” Dr. Chen said. “I told dad first and then I told mom that he likely wasn’t going to make it.”
Parents Turn to Prayer
The Davis family turned immediately to their faith. Vintrez called their pastor and asked him to pray. “He prayed for us and began to speak life over our son,” Vintrez said. “Just encouraged us to stay positive.”
A Heartbeat Returns After Prayer
About five minutes after the pastor finished praying, the doctors saw something change. “That’s when Dr. Chen and his staff noticed that his heart rate began to increase,” Vintrez said. The baby who had no signs of life was suddenly showing improvement.
Hospital staff did all they could medically, but the Davis family believes it was God who gave Landon another chance. “To hold this little boy—God is so good,” Tessa said, holding back tears.
Landon Earns the Name ‘Baby Lazarus’
Now three months old, Landon is alive, healthy, and thriving. Nurses at the hospital gave him a nickname that fits the moment—“Baby Lazarus.”
Sandy Threadgill, a nurse with 20 years in delivery care, shared how she saw the miraculous hand of God in this case. “As far as deliveries and being that far into a resuscitation with no response and then seeing him come out the way he has—it warms your heart,” she said.
“Because you just know that’s a miracle, and God did have a hand in that.”
God Still Answers Prayer
Stories like this strengthen our faith and remind us that God is still moving in powerful ways. When we pray, we are calling on the living God who hears and responds. In times of crisis, may we never forget that He alone gives life, sustains us, and works through people to show His glory.
Let’s give thanks for this little boy’s life and the hospital team who cared for him. May Landon’s story encourage us to trust God more deeply, even when the outcome looks uncertain. And if you’re facing something heavy today, don’t stop praying—God is still good, and He’s still able.
